Cabo San Lucas Villas

My husband and I, along with some good friends wanted to do something different for our next vacation. In our travels we have mainly stayed in hotels or resorts, but this time we wanted to pamper ourselves by staying in larger accommodations, with more privacy and staffing options. We had heard about the villa experience in Cabo San Lucas but we had never yet taken the plunge. Now that we did we will look for villa options whenever we go on vacation. On a sunny day in August we arrived at the San Francisco Airport to depart on our flight to Los Cabos, Mexico. There were three couples meeting my husband and I for what would end up to be our annual trip to Mexico. We chose Cabo San Lucas for the championship golf and the opportunity to stay in a large villa, not far from home, for an extended weekend. The Los Cabos region is comprised of historic, colonial San José del Cabo to the east, thriving Cabo San Lucas to the west and the Tourist Corridor connecting the two. We made our reservations thru Earth, Sea & Sky Vacations, who arranged the perfect vacation for my group. Because they specialize in vacations to Los Cabos they were able to fit our needs perfectly with one of the many villas they represented.

We landed in Los Cabos expecting to find the weather unbearably hot. What we found instead was a mild climate with just the right amount of humidity. We couldn’t believe our luck, after hearing of the hot weather through friends. After a safe and easy transition through immigrations and customs, our private driver greeted us, took our bags and we were off to our Villa. We told him we were staying at Villa Grande in the Pedregal area of Cabo San Lucas; he gave us our first glimpse of what we had in store for us by his reaction; “the place where the movie stars stay”. His comment sent excitement through our group.

Our driver drove through the Pedregal gates and received a warm and friendly welcome from the gate guards, who directed our driver on the route to the house. We arrived at the house to be greeted by Isabelle, the representative from Earth, Sea & Sky Vacations, Inc. who we had booked this glorious villa through. We had arranged for our villa to be stocked with food and beverages, and sure enough all the items we ordered (some of them even special ordered) were stocked in the refrigerator, as expected. What was not expected was the mansion-like villa we were to stay for four relaxing days. My guests and I were surprised to find that almost every room in this 12,000 square foot villa had a view of the ocean. We all went out on the deck to enjoy the appetizers provided, by what we now thought of as our gracious host, Isabelle. Of course we couldn’t wait to see each of our bedrooms. Each of the rooms was equally impressive, until we reached the master bedroom. My husband and I unpacked in the most wonderful room we had ever stayed in. Most of the bedrooms had a private deck and enough privacy that we could have stayed a year, even with this large group of people. Our first afternoon was spent sunning on the grand deck, switching our time between the pool and the Jacuzzi, while sipping champagne. We all thought aloud that the driver was right, we felt like movie stars. Normally we stayed in and cooked dinner in the wondrous kitchen, which had every utensil needed to create a gourmet meal, and had a relaxing dinner on one of the many outdoor dining areas and went to bed early, so as to be rested for the next day.

Each morning we woke to a beautiful sunrise and didn’t even need to get out of bed. What a great way to wake up. Our normal morning routine consisted of making our way down to the kitchen, making coffee, and heading out to one of several ocean-front decks to enjoy the sunrise and watch the gorgeous blue Pacific. We had planned on spending more time in downtown Cabo, but found that none of us could stand to leave the villa; it was just too good to be true! After we retired to our separate rooms to shower and change for dinner, we gathered to watch the sunset from our pool deck. Absolutely incredible, we were speechless! Isabelle had graciously offered to make reservations one evening at her favorite restaurant, Edith’s. We walked in and really felt authentic México, from the music to the food. Great dinner, great atmosphere and friendly wait staff.

After spending what seemed like hours enjoying our dinner, we hit the nightlife of Cabo San Lucas. Four couples, out on the town made for a fun evening. We danced the night away before returning to our wonderful oceanfront Jacuzzi. We awoke the next morning to the same wonderful sunrise and headed out for a day of golf for the men and a day of snorkeling for the women. Isabelle had recommended that we visit Lover’s Beach via water taxi, which is what we did. The variety of fish and warm water temperature gave us the day we hoped for. When we got back to the villa, the chef we had arranged through Earth, Sea & Sky Vacations was there, in his chef’s whites, preparing our dinner. We thought the dinner at Edith’s would be the best that Cabo San Lucas had to offer, until we tasted the incredible meal that was prepared for us, in the privacy of our own villa. The meal was superb and the staff was more than accommodating with our particular tastes. From the appetizers to the cake he prepared for our desert – nothing short of perfection! Awaking the next morning to enjoy our last sunrise we began to feel sad to leave this gorgeous place. Isabelle had again helped us in making appointments for the girls to have masseurs come. All four of us enjoyed a 1-hour massage on the deck overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The massage was out of this world and left us with the perfect ending to the perfect vacation. My guests, as well as my husband and I are well traveled and we have spent time in many five-star resorts, however we agreed that this time was the most luxurious of all and at a cost that was more reasonable than a luxury resort. We are already planning our second annual Cabo Vacation and are relying on Earth, Sea & Sky Vacations to assist again, in planning a great trip.
