As you approach the beach you’ll feel the cool breeze touch you with its freshness. Walk across the tan and black sand beach and view the power of the Pacific! There is often a sandbar where the water that shimmers with “fools gold”, gives you a feeling of surrealism. Paddle out into this right point break, with variable waves on the inside; and depending on the sand bar, you can often catch some nice lefts that peel into beautiful tubes. Cerritos breaks steadily, set after set, with no frequent “waiting time” between sets. This creates a constant “white water” parade of waves on the inside shallow water, making it a wonderful place to learn how to surf. |

Cerritos is a great spot for both the experienced surfer and beginner alike. With a local surf instructor it’s easy to get hooked on the world of surfing. Also at Cerritos you will find the classic Mexican Fish Tacos (Muy Rico!), cooked fresh by Chepina, served under a palapa, right there on the beach. Cerritos is a home away from home for many surfers who come camping, from all over the world. They are looking for the good swells that hit this time of year. Many retired people form the US and Canada, come camping for the winter in Cerritos to soak in the sun and salt air and to appreciate the relaxed, slow pace of life, breathed here in Mexico.
The whale-watching season has begun and our Friendly Ballenas (that’s Spanish for Whales) are putting on their show. You can see the spouts blow from the shore as the sunset creates a new form of art every night as their backdrop. Camping in the evening is cool and safe, and bonfires are commonly enjoyed to warm things up. From Cerritos it is only about a 15-minute drive to Todos Santos, where you can stock up on food and other necessities, grab a nice meal in town, or stop by the legendary Hotel California.
Before you embark on your adventure to Cerritos, we recommend a local tour guide to escort you because there are no street signs or landmarks to identify the entrance road. (If you reach the town of Pescadero, you have gone too far north). Don’t miss the opportunity to experience for yourself the magic of Cerritos.
