THE CABO JAZZ FESTIVAL
WILL NOT TAKE PLACE AS PLANNED
Future plans for the Festival to be announced soon
Los Angeles (April 29, 2004) Festival officials announced today that the 2nd Annual Cabo Jazz Festival scheduled to be held at Pueblo Bonitos Sunset Beach Resort, 22nd 25th of July has been cancelled for this year.
Tim Goodwin, the Festivals Executive Producer stated, To properly organize a festival of this magnitude in Cabo requires a myriad of things to fall in place. Due to our current world climate, several of the valuable participants in this endeavor are apprehensive about rising to the commitment level that is required to make this event a success. We regret that we will not be doing the festival this year as envisioned, but feel confident that we will be able to return next year.
The festival was scheduled for the last weekend in July. Slotted performers included such greats as Eddie Palmieri, Albita, Poncho Sanchez, Patti Austin and more with one nights entertainment located downtown Cabo San Lucas and then two nights of entertainment on the main stage set on Sunset Beach under the stars at the famed Pueblo Bonito resort. Plans are currently being drawn for 2005.
Goodwin continued stating, the public response to the festival has been overwhelming and we are way ahead of last year with ticket sales. Our main sponsors and travel partners, especially Pueblo Bonito Resorts, Alaska Airlines & Costco have remained our champions but they alone cannot support this kind of undertaking. We had hoped that on the success of last years festival that other sponsors would step to the plate but that has failed to materialize. This is a great event that is designed to be a main destination piece for Los Cabos and Mexico and we hope to make that happen.
