JC “Jerry Chapman” the owner of Jc Sportfishing is overheard saying “I am the Timothy Leary of Sport Fishing in Los Cabos” We all are wondering exactly what he meant? But the Fish Report goes on.

Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have a memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well lets get on with the fishing report for this past week.

WEATHER: Cooler temperatures and weather conditions over this past week, which has been out of the normal for us since we had so many weeks of warm weather. Today it rained and over the last 3 days we had cloudy skies and cooler temperatures. Most of the rain was today and we did get a little accumulation with wet streets. Today only reached a high of 71 degrees with a low of 64 degrees, but tomorrow it starts to warm up again and we should get close to 80 tomorrow as a high temperature. Tuesday temperatures will climb back into the mid 80,s with lows in the mid 60,s.
WATER: Still, we have warm water to the south west of Cabo harbor with actually more colder water up inside the Sea of Cortez and towards San Jose. If you check out the Tempbreak map you will see lots of much warmer water around the San Jamie Banks and even up to the Golden Gate and stretching as far north as the Finger Banks. So that’s where the fish are going to be this coming week up and on the Pacific side.
This link which will show you water temperatures for the southern half of Baja. http://www.tempbreak.com/index.php?&cwregion=cb
BILLFISH: Marlin fishing has been pretty decent all week from the Light House to Rancho Migrino and are hitting live bait and lures. This week did also produce some huge Blue Marlin with one being up over 700lbs and the other around 684lbs.
It was an incredible day yesterday for big fish in Cabo San Lucas. The marina was buzzing last night as word spread of 2 boats who were battling fish for over 6 hours! The word was these were big Blue Marlin. 2 big fish were landed and arrived after 8 PM. Congratulations to the “Bad Medicine” crew who landed a 684 pound blue after an epic 9 hour fight! And congratulations to the boys aboard the “Mucho Loco II”. They landed a 773 pound Blue Marlin after a 7 hour + fight!!!!
DORADO: Steady Dorado fishing this past week with most boats landing 5 or 6 fish per boat and most were decent sizes. The hot spots for Dorado is up and around Rancho Migrino about a 1Ž2 miles off the beach all the way up to Golden Gate using lures, live bait and ballyhoo.
WAHOO: Fishing for Wahoo has been very steady this past week and we actually had one boat out that landed 4 Wahoo and one was over 37lbs. This was a big surprise for us as this time of year is normally slower on Wahoo. Fish were caught using rapalas and jet heads.
TUNA: I haven’t heard of a lot of of Tuna being landed this past week. If you do run into them, I think you will have to run offshore about 15 to 20 miles to maybe run into them if you can find a school of Porpoise.
INSHORE: The Pangas inshore is producing good numbers of the Sierras from the Solmar all the way up to the Light House with some Dorado and Red Snapper action also. We also had one boat this week down in the Palmilla area catch 3 nice Rooster fish so really inshore angling is pretty hot. This has been a crazy year with lots of difference species that should be gone but we are still landing them.
