Stop by Our Office for up to Date Fishing Report.

We would like to say were sorry for no fishing report last week as it got pretty hectic with all the fishing tournaments going on and all.    JC’s Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Lets get on with the report for this past week.

WATER: The water has been pretty nice except the days we had rain and then it got stirred up pretty good from the run off which is mostly brown from the dirt. This can effect the fishing and it did for a couple days earlier in the week we seem to be pretty much back to normal.

WEATHER: Well last Sunday we woke up to it raining and it rained pretty good most of the day then on Monday and Tuesday we had some off and on showers and it finally tapered off on Wednesday and got back to our normal sunny skies by mid week. The rain did come down pretty good on Sunday and Monday and did create a little flooding in town. Today is partially over cast this morning and pretty much cleared up by afternoon. The nights have cooled off and its turning into typical November weather here in Cabo, but it is still a little humid at night still.

BILLFISHING: The Striped Marlin are in a feeding frenzy on the Pacific side of the peninsula. Lots of Striped Marlin being caught and even some Sailfish this last week. Most of the boats have been fishing 1 to 4 miles off the beach from the Light House to San Jamie and the marlin are taking lures and live bait. The Sailfish are being caught in the same areas as the Striped Marlin. We even had one Panga land 4 Marlin on Wednesday so the Striped Marlin and Sailfish are here and were catching them.

BAIT:  Bait is the standard 3.00 dollars a piece and there has been plenty around:

DORADO
: Really all the Dorado and Wahoo you want this past week. A good week for all the excellent eating fish and that will make lots of people happy. The pangas are landing lots of Dorado close to shore from the Arch to the Light House. So while you are catching all the Dorado you want you can also get in on the Wahoo action they are all being caught in the same areas.

From The Admirals Kitchen – What else its Tuna Tournament week in Cabo!!!
Grilled Yellowfin Tuna with Marinade

Directions
1.    Prick tuna steaks all over with a fork and place in shallow glass dish.
2.    Whisk oil, soy sauce, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, lemon peel, and garlic together in a bowl; pour over the tuna steaks. Cover dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate 1 to 3 hours.
3.    Preheat grill for medium heat and lightly oil the grate.
4.    Remove tuna from the marinade. Shake excess moisture from the steaks.
5.    Pour the marinade into a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook marinade at a simmer for 10 minutes.
6.    Cook tuna on preheated grill, basting with boiled marinade, until cooked through, 5 to 6 minutes per side. Serve with lemon wedges.

TUNA:  Tuna is what it is all about this week here in Los Cabos with the Western Outdoor Tuna Tournament and our own Bob Marlin did very well with team Fat Farm Boys winning the first day on the Bob Marlin and scoring a pretty good pay check of $114,000. These guys have been fishing with us for the last 15 years and in the Tuna Tournament the last 4 years. So we want to wish these guys well and we are glad they were in the money this year. Good job Fat Farm Boys!! Not a whole lot of Tuna this year and I think only 7 fish weighed. There were 139 boats and the big fish was 194lbs. Good tournament and we are already looking forward to next year.

INSHORE: Lots of fish inshore from the Arch to the Light House. Mostly Wahoo and Dorado and that seems like a good problem to have. The Dorado are hitting lures and cut bait. Most fish inshore are 12 to 25lbs but there are lots of them so you can catch all you want.

WAHOO: More Wahoo than I have ever seen with record numbers of fish being caught this past week. The Wahoo have been caught on jet heads and black and pink ones trolled real fast. Most of the Wahoo are 20 to 35lbs and there is lots of them. We are landing them about a half mile off the Arch all the way up to the Light House.
BEWARE:  Remember if your not renting charter boats from companies who have been established in Cabo for the past 20 years ( Jc sport Fishing, Pisces Sport Fishing, Minervas, Redrum, Picante Fleet) you might have problems. They don’t even have an office you can go and confirm your charter boat. You do not want to spend a day walking around looking for the boat and where you board. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs? You dont want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon. Come by the office here in Cabo and get all the latest up to date fishing report.
